Leslie Adkins
Leslie Adkins is a mixed media artist and figurative painter, who investigates identity, symbology, heritage and decolonization through painting. Much of her work involves painting with acrylics on canvas, linen and reclaimed wood. With a focus on Black portraiture, abstracted natural world elements and spiritual symbology, Leslie creates an other-worldly juxtaposition between the figure and their surroundings.
Her work also expresses an intention to preserve the sacredness of Black innocence while celebrating Black identity through representation. Additionally, with pops of bright color layered on earthy, tonal elements, her pieces often soften the masculine and provoke the feminine, celebrating the fluidity of the genders. |
Alba Castro
Alba Castro is a slow-blooming creative from Monterey Park. She is a roamer of LA’s varied scapes, appreciator of design in color and a smile lover. Zine-making, graphic design, poetry, watercolor, embodied movement, film and photography have allowed her to journey freely into self-discovery. She is currently excited to explore life and wander through Film, Dance and Photography, and their interconnected vast multiplicities.
Her layered images of nature - plants, trees, flowers - are her eternal reminders and emotional mirrors - each moment and its hues reminding us of our humanness and amazing capability to feel. |
Sita Zimmer
Sita is an abstract painter working in mural and larger format canvas. Her work explores subconscious archetypical impressions carried from the dream world into the waking. Deeply influenced by the concepts of Carl Jung, Martin Heidegger and Remedios Varo who bridged two dependent worlds making obvious the mutualism of being. With apparent reality as support along with the nature of what is unseen, her work reflects similarities of our collective states of imagery.
"I am captivated by the dynamics of primary relationships, be that with The Mother, The City or The Home that first met us upon entering the world of conscious reality and how those interpret in unconscious hours." |
