Getty Marrow Curatorial Internship
Summer 2024
SOVERN IS HIRING! Applications are now open for the GETTY MARROW UNDERGRADUATE INTERNSHIP: CURATORIAL INTERN.
The internship will take place in a consecutive 10 week period from June to August 2024.
The position will support developing and organizing upcoming exhibitions, artists’ projects, and other programs at Sovern LA that feature emerging women and gender expansive artists of color. If interested, intern will have the opportunity to curate their own public program, the development for which will take place during the internship tenure.
With dedicated mentorship with Sovern’s artistic director, intern will assist in curatorial tasks related to building future exhibits and artist residencies - meeting with artists and learning the process of developing a cohesive exhibit; support in communication with team of collaborators producing exhibits; and assist in developing and coordinating culturally relevant public programming and engagement activities. Intern will support on site during public programs and will build administrative skills by supporting key internal processes to maintain day to day needs. Intern will also have the opportunity to develop grant writing and arts nonprofit fundraising skills.
At Sovern, we believe in art’s power to bring communities together to grow and we build spaces to dismantle oppressive systems that promote individual and collective healing. Intern should be interested in healing justice and decoloniality in the arts.
