Ancestral Archives | Open call
We invite you to submit your work to Sovern's upcoming group multi-media exhibition, Ancestral Archives. We are seeking work related to the following show theme by BIPOC visual artists. Participating artists will have the opportunity to collaborate on public programs that engage the community in reflection and conversation.
Theme:
Exploring the dynamics of family and self, while shedding light on how these relationships shape our personhood, Ancestral Archives aims to delve into the complexities of familial interactions and the courageous act of breaking cycles.
With this exhibition we hope to foster a broader dialogue about collective healing - revisiting the past, reimagining the future, and underscoring the transformative power of addressing and overcoming inherited traumas. This exhibition not only reflects on individual journeys but will also invite viewers to contemplate their own roles in the ongoing process of healing and renewal.
The Work:
Proposals will not be accepted, only completed works. We welcome multimedia work. All visual art forms are accepted. Artwork that utilizes archival imagery is encouraged. You may submit up to 7 works.
Deadline for Submission:
September 12, 2024
Acceptance Notification:
September 18, 2024
Exhibition Run Dates:
October 19, 2024 - January 9, 2025
